“Oh, yeah! Defiantly! I should have sent Pegasus here so you knew.. Sorry I didn’t mean to frighten you guys”

Hercules after his words mumbled a small “ow” for Meg’s amusement. He caught on to Meg’s small lie quick enough before he could be the dunce to tell his parents they had slept together, secluded, in a small tent. He watched his Father’s glance become a bit suspicious but he waved it off and turned to Hercules’s mother.

Relieved he turned to Meg and mouthed “Thank You”

Meg rolled her eyes playfully, mouthing a ‘your welcome’. Then, remembering his parents still had yet to be informed about the engagement, she gave him another elbow in the side. “Herc…don’t you have something to tell them…?” she asked quietly, glancing up at him. She’d hardly even spoken to his parents, so she certainly didn’t want to be the one blurting out the good news.

“Oh Yeah!” “Mom,.. Dad, I need you attention for a moment”

Hercules parents eyes rested on him, he thought of the love and compassion in his mother, and the bravery and wisdom in his fathers. They would understand why he loved Megara, the instant he would tell them of the engagement. Clearing his throat, he began.

“Megara and I haven’t know each other very long, but I feel that in a circumstance like this it doesn’t matter. Last night under the stars I tossed her an Apple from a tree of this villa. Megara in turn caught it, accepting my proposal. We are to be wed… I ask for your blessing Father, Mother, because Megara…. well..”

Hercules moved so that he was holding both her hands in his fists not far from his face. Eyes wide and luminous with passion.

” She’s everything to me already”

Meg smiled warmly at him, then gave his parents a hopeful look. “Sorry, I know I don’t really know you guys that well yet, but… Herc’s a really good guy and I love him.” She felt a little odd being so forward about her feelings, but she saw this as a time where it was necessary. After all, his parents hardly knew her, so they really had no reason to know their blessings were being rightly placed.

The expression on Herc’s parent’s faces immediately lit up, and his mother’s eyes even began to tear up a little. As far as she could tell, it was a good thing. And it was, as they immediately rushed up to hug them. “Son, of course we give you two our blessing. We couldn’t be happier to hear the news.”

Hercules embraced his mother with his broad arms lifting her off the ground. His hearth thrummed in his chest. He and Megara we going to be married. She would finally have the happily ever after she deserved. After putting his mother down he turned to Megara.

“This is going to be wonderful!”

“Of course we will, there’s lots of place to hide in there”

Hercules leg muscles reacted only slightly to those of Pegasus as the rippled underneath their weight propelling forward and upward. He laughed when he turned around to find meg’s annoyed expression muffled buy loads of her honey-brown hair.

“Looks like fun”

He turned around with a chuckle but his smirk was soon wiped of his face. His parents were sitting on the steps of the Villa looking like an odd mixture of frantic and generally angry. As Pegasus’s front hooves smacked the ground, Hercules was already dismounted a hand clutching the back of his neck an “i know i’m in trouble” look on his face.

If the situation was awkward for Hercules, it was ten times as awkward for Meg. She stayed mounted on Pegasus for a few moments, attempting to fix her disheveled hair which was a complete mess thanks to the flight. At last she finally managed to get it out of her face comb through it decently enough with her fingers before she finally slid of Pegasus and went to Herc’s side.

“Where have you been?!” The question came from Hercules’s mother as she stood up, walking up to them. His father was right behind her, a comforting hand on his wife’s shoulder as he spoke. “Your mother and I have been worried sick all night.”

“Uh…we can explain,” Meg cut in before Hercules could say anything. She stepped out a little, smiling at them. “See, Herc here decided to go give me a little tour of his old village and it was getting late so some of the villagers just invited us to stay the night. But you have nothing to worry about, we slept on opposite sides of the room and all. …Right?” She elbowed Hercules in the stomach a little, hoping he would catch on. He wasn’t always the brightest guy and she didn’t want him screwing up the little fib.

He laughed softly and furrowed his brow at her poke, playfully.

“I have always wondered what it’d be like to date a gorgon, I can’t imagine its less than what Aphrodite will do to you know”

A warm and confident smile was displayed proudly on Hercules’s face and he could help but rise and move closer to her. His fiance…

“Hey, don’t go getting me killed by angry future in-laws,” she said, rolling her eyes. They both stood up, and she laid her head on his chest as he pulled her close. She would have been content staying there with him for much longer. The whole day perhaps. She felt more more relaxed being with him alone rather than with others like Phil or his parents around. But just as she was thinking of this, she heard the flapping of wings coming closer, and Pegasus landed beside them, neighing impatiently.

“Ok, ok, horsefeathers, we know you’re here.” She sighed and looked up at Hercules. “I guess we’re gonna have to head back sooner or later, aren’t we?”

With a solemn look on his face Hercules left Megara’s arms. He wasn’t quite ready to go home but he knew he need to. It took him a short period of time before the swung on strong leg over Pegasus’s back and was mounted. The thick coarse hairs of his pale back scratched against Hercules’s inner thighs, only momentarily bothering him, because when he glanced over and saw Meg’s face his thoughts were interrupted. She looked so beautiful with he sass shining in her eyes it made him want to erupt in joy, he held out a hand offering to help her mount his steed.

“I suppose so, don’t look so gloomy, after our marriage we can request much more.. alone time”

He blushed at his, even if he felt a little more than proud for being able to spit it out.

Meg let out a chuckle at Herc’s comment as she took his hand, using it to hoist herself up and swing a leg over Pegasus’s back, mounting him. She wrapped her arms around Hercules’s waist. “Right, I’m sure we’ll have plenty of alone time in that big ol’ villa of yours,” she replied, smirking a little as she laid her head against his back.

Pegasus took off, gradually increasing in speed as they got higher up. Meg had still yet to put her hair up, so it was whipping all over the place in the wind. It didn’t take very long for them to get back to the villa, and Pegasus landed a few feet in front of the steps. Unfortunately, it seemed that Hercules’s parents were on the steps as well, sitting on the marble steps with worried looks on their faces.

“Looks like we have some explaining to do…” Meg muttered to him, knowing he was probably feeling just as awkward about the situation.

“Of course we will, there’s lots of place to hide in there”

As the sunlight crept in through a small crack in the tent opening, Meg’s eyes fluttered open. She sat up, stretching a little and rubbing the sleep from her eyes. Looking around, she found that Hercules wasn’t in the tent. For a split second, she panicked. What if he’d chickened out and ran off, or changed his mind and decided to go back to Olympus? Then, she noticed his shadow through the tent and felt stupid. Calm down, girl. Everything’s ok, she told herself.

She quickly got dressed, though she opted against tying up her hair and left her long curls to trail loosely down her back. She parted the tent entrance to find Hercules sitting just outside, already dressed. He appeared to be watching the sunrise. Smiling a little, she sat down next to him and draped an arm over his shoulder.

“It’s pretty, isn’t it?” she asked, referring to the sunrise. You could see the sea over the edge of the hill they were on, and looked as if it was rising up from the sea. Splashes of orange tainted the sky from the rising sun, while the rest was beginning to turn a light blue. Meg hadn’t watched many sunrises. She’d never really found them to be special, but right now, sitting up here alone with him, this one felt special.

Hercules turned quickly and his eyes met Meg’s, her hair was loose and he admired the way the sun hit it, making it appear to be more red in colour. He couldn’t stop staring… her beauty always entranced him and often left him as blank as an unpainted canvas. Hercules was no longer an unpainted canvas, Meg had brought rich colours into his world that he had never imagined before. She was everything to him.

“Yes, It beautiful, but it’s arguable that the one gazing upon it is more beautiful than Aphrodite herself.”

He chuckled to himself with his words and could imagine his relatives scorn at his words. She could get over it..

Meg looked over at him as she realized Hercules was gazing at her, not the sunrise. She smiled lightly and rested her head on his shoulder, looking back to the view. He always knew how to make her light up with joy, and it felt almost odd to her to be smiling so much now. That didn’t happen often, until she’d met him.

She let out a soft chuckle at his compliment. No doubt Aphrodite herself was glaring down at him right now for the comment. The gods didn’t take insults very well, and she really didn’t want to get cursed or something because of it. “Oh please, you’re exaggerating. You don’t want your auntie getting mad at you, now do you?” she asked in a teasing tone, poking him on the arm.

He laughed softly and furrowed his brow at her poke, playfully.
